Emma (00:02):
You're listening to Dialogue Frog's English conversations. So, it's New Year's again. Happy New Year.
Luke (00:09):
Mm-hmm. Happy New Year.
Emma (00:11):
So last year we did an episode on New Year's resolutions and we just listened to it again. And I feel like a failure. How do you feel?
Luke (00:22):
Uh, not great.
Emma (00:25):
Yeah. So my resolution last year, so was to read two books in a month and I did not do that. I think I read two books last year, web, web comics aside. I read a lot of web comics.
Luke (00:40):
Yeah.
Emma (00:45):
I read two books last year. No, oh wait, do comic books count?
Luke (00:50):
You tell me. You tell me-
Emma (00:53):
I read a couple of comic books.
Luke (00:53):
-if comic books count.
Emma (00:54):
I, I want to- my goal again for this year, I want, I do want to read more and I actually just bought a book. Um, the other day at the local bookstore. It's a book called Shelf Life and it's about, um, these, these women who run a bookstore in Egypt and it just seemed really interesting to me, that, uh, to read their story. So my goal is for January, I want to read that book. And then the rest of the year, I don't know yet. Maybe I can do one book a month. Maybe if I set the bar lower. What about you? Would you have any reflections on your resolutions from last year or what you'd like to do different for this year?
Luke (01:45):
Um, well, my resolution was to get healthier, which I guess I did and did not fulfill, 'cause I think I initially meant about my weight.
Emma (01:59):
Mm-hmm.
Luke (01:59):
Which I actually ended up gaining weight-
Emma (02:01):
Mm-hmm.
Luke (02:02):
-last year, but I feel mentally, mental-health wise, I feel better.
Emma (02:07):
That's really huge though. That, that's amazing. Yeah. So, I think for you, that's a victory. I'll, I'll have the year of failure and you can have the year of victory. Yeah. I was actually-
Luke (02:22):
Does that work in board games, too? 'Cause-
Emma (02:23):
No.
Luke (02:23):
-every time you win-
Emma (02:24):
I'm not gonna-
Luke (02:24):
at board games.
Emma (02:24):
No. I'm not gonna let you win. No. It's on.
Luke (02:30):
It's on.
Emma (02:31):
Yeah. Well, all right. This has been Dialogue Frog's English conversations. For transcripts and English word lists of this episode, please visit dialoguefrog.com.
