Luke (00:02):
You're listening to Dialogue Frog's English listening podcast. So, I heard you got some new spectacles.

Emma (00:12):
I did. I got new pair of glasses. Yep. I can see now.

Luke (00:19):
That's good.

Emma (00:19):
I'm no longer blind.

Luke (00:21):
That's good.

Emma (00:23):
I actually have really bad eyes.

Luke (00:26):
Sorry about that.

Emma (00:27):
I was blessed to have received very good teeth, but in exchange I have awful, awful eyes. I've been wearing glasses- how long have I been wearing glasses? Probably since early elementary school. You wear glasses too, though.

Luke (00:45):
It's true.

Emma (00:48):
When did you start wearing glasses?

Luke (00:51):
Um, it's kind of funny, 'cause I started wearing 'em in middle school and then I went for several years without wearing 'em 'cause I thought they made me look funny and that was really not good.

Emma (01:05):
Yeah. That makes your eyes worse.

Luke (01:08):
So, then I started wearing 'em again. When I realized I couldn't see the board at school.

Emma (01:16):
A wise decision. Have you ever tried contacts?

Luke (01:21):
Um, my eyes have really bad stigmas against things.

Emma (01:25):
Oh, astigmatisms?

Luke (01:27):
Yeah.

Emma (01:27):
Yeah, and so they don't make contacts like, that would work for you?

Luke (01:34):
They do, but they're prohibitively expensive.

Emma (01:36):
Oh really? Hm, that's a shame. I used to have contacts, but for me, like touching my eye, I do not like touching my eye. And you kind of have to touch your eye with the contacts.

Luke (01:53):
I can touch your eye.

Emma (01:54):
No, please don't. That's gross. I don't like, I don't like it when things touch my eyes. It's like germs. Like I don't know what it is, but you, there's like this fear of germs, like on fingers or underneath fingernails. And then that gets in your eye and causes, I don't know, pink eye or blindness or something bad.

Luke (02:13):
Yeah.

Emma (02:15):
And that's even my own hands. Even if my hands are clean and I know they're clean. It's just a phobia or a fear. So, I wear glasses.

Luke (02:25):
Well, this has been another episode of Dialogue Frog on the theme of glasses. For transcripts and vocabulary lists, please visit our website at dialoguefrog.com.
