Emma 0:02
Welcome back to the English dialogues by Dialogue Frog. I'm pretty excited.
Luke 0:08
Why is that?
Emma 0:09
Because it's it's getting to be spring outside.
Luke 0:13
Oh, yeah.
Emma 0:14
Yeah. You can tell, like, the light is changing.
Luke 0:17
Yeah.
Emma 0:18
The days are getting longer.
Luke 0:19
Yeah.
Emma 0:21
There's birds.
Luke 0:23
There's birds.
Emma 0:23
They're chirping and then the flowers are starting to to spring up.
Luke 0:29
Yeah.
Emma 0:30
I'm pretty excited.
Luke 0:32
You could say spring is a re-leaf.
Emma 0:36
Haha. Ha. That- it is a re-leaf. Yes. I don't know. I'm I'm not a fan of winter. Spring is my favorite season.
Luke 0:46
Yeah.
Emma 0:46
Yeah.
Luke 0:47
It is nice to see return to lifeforms.
Emma 0:50
What's your favorite season?
Luke 0:52
I like spring.
Emma 0:53
Spring.
Luke 0:53
I used to like winter a lot and then I went sliding through red light on ice. And that was kind of scary. So, then I changed my mind about winter.
Emma 1:03
Yeah.
Luke 1:03
We're no longer friends.
Emma 1:06
Yeah. Winter weather is scary.
Luke 1:09
Yeah.
Emma 1:10
But spring weather can be scary too, 'cause spring often brings really bad thunderstorms.
Luke 1:14
Yeah.
Emma 1:15
Tornadoes.
Luke 1:16
Mm hm.
Emma 1:17
Hail.
Luke 1:18
Mm hm.
Emma 1:19
Wind storms.
Luke 1:21
Yeah.
Emma 1:23
But those are the bad parts of spring. Let's talk about the good parts of spring.
Luke 1:26
Yeah.
Emma 1:28
But we already did.
Luke 1:29
Yeah. Well, we can tie it together and say 'April showers bring May flowers.'
Emma 1:36
Yes, that is true. That reminds me, I need to go check on my seeds.
Luke 1:43
Mm hm.
Emma 1:43

The signs of spring may be different where you live. Sometimes, they are also based on folklore and personal experience instead of the facts of science. Check out the article below by Catherine Boeckmann from a magazine called The Old Farmer's Almanac. It contains a lot of additional and detailed vocabulary for talking about spring.
Special spring vocabulary: 'peeper'
A 'peeper' is a small frog that sings during the early spring in the U.S. and Canada. When you hear them outside in spring, it is common to call them 'spring peepers.'
