Emma (00:01):
Welcome to another practice English conversation about planning a trip with Dialogue Frog. So we're gonna talk about this some more because I really, really, really wanna plan a trip.

Luke (00:14):
You know, I'm starting to believe that you wanna plan a trip.

Emma (00:17):
I do! How did you know?

Luke (00:20):
Just, just a hunch.

Emma (00:21):
It was a good hunch. You have good intuition.

Luke (00:23):
Thanks.

Emma (00:24):
Yeah. But yeah, so Chicago, right? I wanna go to Chicago. So, now I'm starting to think about logistics. So, how do I get there? When should I go? 'Cause I have to take off of work. I have to plan enough time to, to ask for time off, um, to get a vacation. So, I'm thinking maybe I'll do a four day trip.

Luke (00:42):
Mm.

Emma (00:43):
But Chicago is kind of up north and it gets cold relatively early in the year.

Luke (00:48):
Yeah.

Emma (00:49):
But also in the summertime, 'cause it's in the Midwest, the US Midwest, it can get hot and humid, I think, during the summertime.

Luke (00:56):
Right.

Emma (00:57):
So, I think the best time to go might be in this, probably fall, maybe early fall?

Luke (01:03):
Ah ha!

Emma (01:03):
Like September?

Luke (01:05):
The shoulder seasons.

Emma (01:07):
The shoulder season. The shoulder season being like spring or fall, right?

Luke (01:12):
Mm-hmm.

Emma (01:13):
Yeah. So, I think I might try to plan for a four-day trip to Chicago in September.

Luke (01:26):
That-that'll be good. I should look to see if there's any concerts and then I can go with you and then we can have a fun time.

Emma (01:32):
That'd be fun. Yeah. Oh, I bet Rachel and Jeff would have fun too.

Luke (01:36):
Yep. For sure.

Emma (01:37):
Yep. And then we can decide together, 'cause I, I talked before about how there's like famous restaurants and stuff. There's so many restaurants. Like, I started looking at it again 'cause I was getting excited about planning a trip. There's a lot to choose from. So, I think we need to decide on our hotel. We need to pick a hotel kind of as our, our center of activity, and then from around the hotel, maybe choose the restaurants and places where we wanna go.

Luke (02:03):
Yeah. That sounds like a good plan.

Emma (02:05):
And they have, I think they have a good subway system and all that there. Good public transportation. That's one of the things like when you're planning a trip, like you have to make sure, especially in the U.S. that you have a plan for getting around that town because sometimes towns don't have good public transportation, so you have to rent a car.

Luke (02:21):
Yeah.

Emma (02:22):
But like last time when I was, I took a trip to Tucson, they had very limited public transportation. Um, that wasn't really where I had to be in that town. It didn't really serve me well. So.

Luke (02:34):
Hm. I see.

Emma (02:34):
We can plan for that this time.

Luke (02:37):
That's why I always rent a helicopter when I go places, because just never know when you're gonna have to land on top of a building.

Emma (02:46):
Well, I mean anymore, you, you should really just get a jetpack.

Luke (02:49):
Oh yeah.

Emma (02:49):
Yeah.

Luke (02:49):
That's true.

Emma (02:51):
Yep. Well, this has been another practice English conversation about planning a trip with Dialogue Frog. For transcripts and vocabulary lists, please visit our website dialoguefrog.com.
