Welcome to the free English listening practice podcast, Dialogue Frog.

Luke (00:08):
So, what were you up to this morning?

Emma (00:10):
Let's see. This morning, I went to the post office and I went grocery shopping.

Luke (00:18):
Uh huh.

Emma (00:18):
Yeah.

Luke (00:19):
Grocery store is also known as the toast office.

Emma (00:23):
No, it's not called the toast office.

Luke (00:25):
Oh.

Emma (00:25):
It's called the grocery store or maybe the supermarket.

Luke (00:31):
I do like toast though.

Emma (00:33):
Toast is good.

Luke (00:34):
Especially if you have apple butter.

Emma (00:37):
Apple butter. You know, now that you mention it, there were a lot of apples in the produce section. It's time for the apple harvest. Do you like apples?

Luke (00:48):
Yep.

Emma (00:48):
Just apple butter or apples?

Luke (00:51):
Um, I like them. I like apples and I like apple butter, but I do not like butter on apples.

Emma (00:59):
Fair enough. When you were a kid, did you ever go to that orchard that's nearby?

Luke (01:04):
No, I don't think I did.

Emma (01:06):
'Cause I remember in elementary school, uh, there was a field trip where the whole class would go to this orchard nearby and you would go and pick apples in the orchard and you'd drink apple cider. You'd watch how the apple cider was made. And I think there were apple cider donuts.

Luke (01:24):
I did go to that! I remember now.

Emma (01:26):
Oh, you did?

Luke (01:27):
Yeah.

Emma (01:28):
It's probably the same one.

Luke (01:29):
Yeah.

Emma (01:29):
It's gotta be. I kinda wanna go again.

Luke (01:32):
Yep.

Emma (01:33):
Do-do you want to go maybe next week, week after?

Luke (01:37):
Yeah. Sure.

Emma (01:38):
Alright. Let's plan on that. Maybe Rachel and Geoff will come.

Luke (01:42):
Yeah, that'd be fun.

Emma (01:43):
We'll have to invite them. This has been another free English listening practice podcast with Dialogue Frog. If you'd like to read the transcript or review the vocabulary, you can go to our website, dialoguefrog.com.

While many people visit orchards during the apple harvest, orchards are also a commercial business for the owners and farmers.

This video by Farm & Food Care has more vocabulary on the business side of apple orchards. It describes what it is like to own and live on a large orchard.
