Emma (00:02):
You are listening to a free English conversation between two people with Dialogue Frog. It is hot outside.
Luke (00:10):
Pretty toasty.
Emma (00:11):
Pretty toasty. So, when it's summer and it's hot like this, do you prefer to be outside in the heat or do you like to be inside in the air conditioner?
Luke (00:22):
Um, I don't like to be in the air conditioner 'cause there's blades spinning and stuff, but-
Emma (00:27):
Aha aha aha.
Luke (00:29):
But when I'm just inside the house or the building or whatever it may be, I much prefer that.
Emma (00:35):
You prefer to be in air condition- and in, in, in an air-conditioned room.
Luke (00:38):
Mm-hmm.
Emma (00:39):
You know, I actually prefer to be in a place that doesn't have air conditioning. I like, I think it, I think it's better for the body to kind of be in the environment. So, to acclimate to the environment around you, whatever the temperature is. And of course, unless it's super extreme, if it's extremely cold, that's different.
Luke (00:56):
Hm.
Emma (00:56):
'Cause then you can get frostbite and stuff, if you're outside in extreme cold. But when it's warm, when it's very warm and hot, as long as it's not like so hot, it's going to kill you, then I actually prefer to be out in the elements or to have the hou- the air conditioner off.
Luke (01:15):
I see.
Emma (01:16):
But that's, it's different though. Like when the air conditioner breaks, has the air conditioner, uh, broken for you this summer?
Luke (01:24):
Um, yeah, there was a, there was a couple days there where it was uncomfortable to say the least
Emma (01:31):
How'd you handle that?
Luke (01:34):
A lot of crying, um, curling up in a ball and just regretting all my life choices.
Emma (01:42):
But more seriously, how did you handle that?
Luke (01:45):
Um, just sweated it out.
Emma (01:47):
And waited for the repair- you called the repair technicians and, and waited for them to, to do the repairs?
Luke (01:53):
It's true.
Emma (01:56):
And normally when you buy an air conditioner, like there's a maintenance plan or if you're renting right, then you'd call the landlord and have them get it repaired. Somebody I work with their air conditioner went out also. It took them days. And so the landlord brought them, um, like a, a several fans and a window air conditioning unit. And that's how they survived the, the heat wave.
Luke (02:20):
You know what we should do is call a famous person 'cause I've heard they have lots of fans.
Emma (02:28):
That's really funny. They probably do have lots of fans. All right. Well, this has been a free English conversation between two people with Dialogue Frog. For transcripts and vocabulary lists, please visit our website dialoguefrog.com.
