Emma: You are listening to Dialogue Frog’s short English conversations for listening, speaking and shadowing practice. I’m not quite sure what I’ll cook for dinner tonight.
Luke: I’m not sure what I’ll cook either, but I know that I will be eating something. Question is what something.
Emma: H-how do you cook? Do you cook well? Do you cook often?
Luke: Uh, I tried cooking a well once but the stones didn’t taste very good um, and I think I ended up adding too much water, and uh, but no, I’ve been known to ruin toast sometimes so I’m still a novice.
Emma: But you can make some fancy toast.
Luke: I can. I-I don’t want to brag but its like I’ve even I’ve even put some cream cheese on my toast before.
Emma: That’s classy.
Luke: That-classly. That’s like a toast toast with a monocle.
Emma: But you’ve made sardine toast before, right? That’s your thing.
Luke: Yeah, I like to put um sardines on toast and with some avocado and it tastes really good and its actually really filling.
Emma: And its healthy for you too, right?
Luke: Yep.
Emma: There’s all kinds of things in sardines and avocados that a person should have every day.
Luke: Mm hm. Which is good ‘cause it’s the only thing I know how to cook so usually I end up having it every day.
Emma: You’ve made a pretty good chili.
Luke: Um yeah. I never I was never able to get it consistently good.
Emma: Chili is kind of interesting because there’s so many types of chili and there’s chili contests, right? So if you are a chili pro, you can enter one of those contests and maybe win some money. Have you ever been to one of the chili contests?
Luke: Nope, I haven’t. I usually just put on a jacket when I’m chilly.
Emma: That’s…that’s not the same kind of chili. Yeah. Chili is good in uh, in the winter months.
Luke: Yep.
Emma: ‘Cause it’s one of those foods that’s just warm and filling.
Luke: Mm hmm. Yep. Just like…pizza. Except its like a liquid form of pizza without the-
Emma: No, it is not like a liquid form of pizza. Ah, okay. This was an excellent conversation about cooking, chili and how chili is not like pizza. Uh, we look forward to seeing you next time on Dialogue Frog.
Luke: Bye, everyone.
