Emma: You are listening to Dialogue Frog’s short English conversations for listening, speaking and shadowing practice. So, we’re on episode 10 and I’ve noticed Luke, that you’re kind of a funny guy.

Luke: Some have said that. Not me.

Emma: You’re quite the master of various types of English humor. Key among them would be the pun.

Luke: The pun.

Emma: Yes. What’s your favorite pun?

Luke: Fffff.

Emma: I know its a hard one.

Luke: Probably the hot cross pun.

Emma: The hot cross pun.

Luke: Yep.

Emma: That’s excellent. In what situations do you find yourself using your your pun humor?

Luke: Um. Where don’t I use it? The uh, I use it when I’m at the doctor’s office.

Emma: That could lead to some medical complications.

Luke: That’s true.

Emma: Did they find your funny bone?

Luke: They did. Um, I’ve used it-

Emma: Was it humerus?

Luke: I’ve used it at the court before.

Emma: Oh? What did-what-Why did you use it at court?

Luke: Well ‘cause, uh, there was a trial there and then I guess they found found the guy guilty and he was punished.

Emma: Oh. Ohhhh. That was a good one.

Luke: I try to sneak in a pun when I can.

Emma: So is a pun the same as what you call an uncle joke or a dad joke.

Luke: Um, yes and no. I think its kind of like thumbs are fingers but not all fingers are thumbs, so.

Emma: Alright.

Luke: So, dad jokes and uncle jokes fall-can fall into the category of puns but not all puns are uncle jokes or dad jokes.

Emma: Well I think I’m confused and that’s okay because this was a conversation about puns. That’s all we have time for today. Thank you for joining us on another episode of Dialogue Frog.

Luke: Thanks everyone.
