Luke (00:02):
Welcome to short dialogues in English with Dialogue Frog. Emma, do you know what the Kansas City Royals and cookies have in common?
Emma (00:17):
Baseball?
Luke (00:18):
They both have batters.
Emma (00:20):
Oh! That's pretty funny. That's actually a really good one. Batters. Cookie batters. Baseball batters. I get it.
Luke (00:30):
Mm hm.
Emma (00:30):
That's funny. You're a funny guy.
Luke (00:33):
Although, I don't think cookies have outfielders.
Emma (00:37):
They never make it that far.
Luke (00:39):
Nope.
Emma (00:41):
Nope. So, Kansas City Royals. That's a, that's a baseball team. Is that your team?
Luke (00:46):
Um, I think so. I like to, to root for them, like a tree.
Emma (00:53):
Are they, are they any good this year?
Luke (00:56):
I think so. I think they're in third, last I heard.
Emma (00:59):
Oh, really?
Luke (01:02):
Mm hm.
Emma (01:02):
But for baseball, usually I guess most people are, most people would know the Yankees, right?
Luke (01:08):
Yeah.
Emma (01:09):
I'm not- I gotta say, I'm not much for sports. I do like baseball. Out of all the sports, baseball is my favorite.
Luke (01:15):
Yeah.
Emma (01:16):
And I like to play baseball.
Luke (01:17):
Yeah.
Emma (01:18):
Which is actually kind of interesting. I don't like softball. I don't like the underhand pitch thing of softball. I like the overhand pitch of baseball. It's kind of satisfying. Like, when you throw a baseball and it just, you throw it as hard as you can.
Luke (01:30):
Yeah.
Emma (01:32):
That's actually more fun than actually playing the game is just throwing as hard as you can. Maybe that's a different sport. Maybe that should be like discus. Anyway. Baseball.
Luke (01:44):
Baseball.
Emma (01:44):
You play baseball?
Luke (01:47):
Um, I don't really. Just, I don't know why I don't. I guess I just don't.
Emma (01:53):
It takes a lot of people though. Doesn't it? Like, you have to, in order to play a game, you have to assemble teams and...
Luke (02:02):
Yeah, that's true.
Emma (02:04):
Although I think some communities, maybe, maybe ours does this too. You can join like a community team if you wanted. Although its probably late for that now. Normally they recruit for the community teams maybe in March or April.
Luke (02:16):
Oh, yeah. Maybe next year.
Emma (02:22):
Maybe next year. Yup. Are you gonna go to a baseball game? Do you like to watch baseball?
Luke (02:27):
I do like to watch baseball.
Emma (02:28):
See, I uh, I get bored. I'd rather play baseball.
Luke (02:32):
Yeah.
Emma (02:32):
Than watch it. Unless it's the World Series. 'Cause then it's like serious.
Luke (02:37):
Yeah.
Emma (02:37):
It's like the Olympics.
Luke (02:39):
That's true.
Emma (02:40):
Which is kind of awful of me. I only watch when it's the best of the best.
Luke (02:45):
Eh, it's normal.
Emma (02:46):
I feel like I just insulted all the athletes. I apologize to all of the athletes.
Luke (02:51):
I think they'll forgive you.
Emma (02:53):
Aw, thanks.
